me & my gal
What's new? She's two! You know, that baby I just had? Well, the only vestige of baby now is the extra ten-pack around my hips that can no longer fairly be classified as "postpartum." Sigh. And I haven't made it on the bike yet this year (shame, shame) but at least now I'm actually thinking about it. Yesterday I heard myself tell 2-year-old Charlotte at naptime that, "if it's warm when you wake up, we'll get on the bike and go to the park!" Of course, she forgets this later, and it is most certainly NOT warm when she wakes up, but I am planting seeds here... for both of us, really, so that one of us will manage to guilt me into a ride.
This morning when she was watching me paw through the dresser for something to wear for the day, she peered into my top drawer and exclaimed "bike socks!"
See?

Grand Opening Today!
A super cute little boutique located in the thick of close-in-eastside convenience, offering new and gently-used (read: buy, sell, trade) quality clothing for litte ones and their mothers. Don't have a sitter? That's okay, there's a play area (and a baby-friendly bathroom) and a couple other destinations within a block (e.g. Moxie, Screen Door, Gossamer, or new eats Casa el Matador) that will make this worth the trip! Ten minutes or less on a bike from almost any eastside neighborhood west of 82nd. Pack those outgrown baby clothes into a backpack and hit the pedals!
2410 E. Burnside St.

celebrate life
On Saturday we hit Urban Grounds cafe for our parent-toddler Spanish class (sponsored by the Portland Early Learning Project) and was delighted to partake in the subsequent valentine's day party they also put on there that day after our morning class. It was great: different stations of creative, make-your-own valentines, face painting, great kid-focused live music, and even a jolly creator of all things balloon for the wee ones (courtesy of Balloonibles) who made my daughter a giant pink crown with a red heard floating above that fit on her head, in homage to it being her birthday. Of course, she only wore it for eight seconds, but who was counting?
